What Is the

 Prairie Fresh® Way?

The Prairie Fresh Way is our rallying cry. It describes the meeting point between our connected food system and our relationship-focused service. For you, it means a consistent high-quality product, unbeatable service and ever-evolving food innovations. For your customers, it means delicious pork that satisfies bellies, hearts, and keeps them coming back for more.

The Prairie Fresh Way comes to life in three ways.

A Culture of Connection

Our connected food system is the cornerstone of the Prairie Fresh Way, but it’s only the beginning. Beyond that, we believe in transparent and upfront business practices. We believe that healthy animals produce nutritious pork, and care for the animals and environment is essential. We also know that feeding a community includes giving back with outreach programs to help people thrive. When you work with Prairie Fresh, your stores can bring fresh, delicious pork to everyone.

Quality Product

Just how do we produce a range of products with unrivaled quality? By managing the entire process, start to finish. This allows us to adapt quickly, maintaining the highest production standards. Whether it’s exceptional attributes achieved from superior genetics, operating the newest plants in the industry, or tailoring animal feed for ideal fat firmness, the result is simple — pork your customers crave. And it’s all trimmed to exact specification for better yield and consistency.

Our history

Since 1999, Prairie Fresh has earned a reputation for serving up some of the best-quality pork in the industry and delighting consumers all over the world. But, the story of our pork goes back to a decade earlier with the founding of Seaboard Foods, a division of Seaboard Corporation, which produces the pork products sold as Prairie Fresh.

Today: Farm operators who raise pork for Prairie Fresh are in the central part of the United States from Minnesota to Texas and Colorado to Oklahoma. These operations consist of genetic and commercial breeding, farrowing, nursery and finishing farms with thousands of dedicated farm employees. And we continue the tradition of working alongside these farms and Seaboard Foods to produce pork products that set a higher standard for the industry.
